You must’ve heard of first woman truck driver, first woman auto-rikshaw driver and much more first ever women who made a paradigm shift in the jobs that only men used to do. This time, it is Punjab’s first woman DJ-Yamya Arora. First woman DJ in India was Kavya Arora in 1997. Yamya, is the first woman from Punjab to follow her passion without bothering about society norms.
The 20-year-old, a resident of Kabir Nagar, is passionate about music and has a collection of 5000 different kinds of soundtracks. She has a knack of mixing the tunes up to make people groove to them. Currently, a student of fashion designing found her talent when she played and mixed music for her friends. She has her unique electric mixing skills, which got her the recognition as a potential DJ. She creates mixes from genres like Bollywood, Hip Hop, Tech, Progressive and UK Punjabi.
The young lady is thankful to her mother for supporting her and breaking the paradigm. She has also undergone training under professional Djs. The first time she was introduced to the public was at R2P by renowned actor Binnu Dhillon.
Following Her Passion
A commerce graduate, a fashion model and a fashion designing student made a major decision by shifting her career to music. Her love and passion for music drove her into making this choice. Of course, there were difficulties faced by her, as she saw her peers making a career in fashion. But, she proved herself by excelling in a career in music, a move that nobody expected.
