Water Supply project, Punjab: Punjab water supply and sanitation minister Surjit Singh Rakhra said on Sunday that the Punjab government would provide 100 percent water supply, toilets and sewerage to all the households in the village area of the state. Rakhra gave this statement at the event of laying the foundation stone of Rs 21 crore project for providing sewerage facility to the three villages – Meharban, Jagirpur and Bajra. Punjab irrigation minister Sharanjit Singh Dhillon was also present at the event.
Water Supply project to be completed in November, work going on in full swing
He also requested the residents to stop the wastage of water in the city. In the second phase of the project initiated by the government, four lakh meters will be installed across the region.
The project will be completed fully in November this year. The Municipal Corporation will be completing this project in 8 phases. The budget for this project is said to be Rs 92 crores. For now, the lining is being undertaken as under this project after which the connections will be provided to the households.
Rakhra praised CM Prakash Singh Badal stating that Shiromani Akali Dal-Bharatiya Janta Party-led state government has worked for the development of the state under which roads and bridges have been developed and power generation has also increased. And now, under the present project, the government is working to remove the problem of sewerage completely, he said that the work under this project is going on in full swing.
